LEADER EXPECTATIONS

Becoming a leader at Elevation Church means taking an active role in the life of the church; it means putting faith into action. We believe the truth from God's word that is communicated every weekend at our church has the power to change lives. Because this message is so significant there is no detail that is insignificant. That being said, we want you to know what expectations we have for our leaders at Elevation Church.

LEADERSHIP

  • Provide care, support, and encouragement for the people that you lead.

  • You will receive an email each time someone new joins your eTeam or eGroup. You will need to text or email them to introduce yourself as well as give them details for the next time you meet or serve.

  • Identify someone in your eTeam or eGroup that you can encourage to begin leading by gradually sharing the leadership responsibilities with them until they are confident to lead on their own.

RELATIONSHIPS

Relationship with Christ:

Your ministry is the overflow of your relationship with Jesus Christ. The pursuit of growing in Him and loving people from your overflow of what He is doing in your life is your focus.

Relationship with Your Family:

As a church, we are only as strong as our families. Leadership is a family decision and must move the family forward in faith.

Relationship with the Church:

Our goal for you is that you are fully engaging with the church through participating in what God is doing through Elevation:

  • Serving one of our teams and/or being in an eGroup community

  • Faithfully tithing to expand your faith as well as build the mission God has given us through Elevation Church

  • Taking the mission with you into the community by inviting others to join us in church

Relationship with the World:

Leadership means setting an example through living a life worthy of your calling and operating with personal integrity everywhere you go. We haven’t been called to perfection, but to pursue a life of focus and intention as builders of the church.

SOCIAL MEDIA

The people you lead will likely visit your social media profiles. Social media can be a great way to give your people an inside look at your life, your family, and our church. Because of this, Leaders should use social media in a positive and encouraging way. As a church, we want to be known for what we are for, and as a leader, your social media use should reflect that value. Set the standard by posting appropriate language, non-suggestive photos, and encouraging comments.

REGARDING SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

As a church, we believe sex was created by God as an expression of intimacy between a husband and wife. As a leader, you should model this same belief. Leaders who embrace this model will not only meet the expectations for leaders at Elevation Church — they will also see their positive influence in the other relationships increase. If you become involved in a sexual relationship outside of marriage in any manner, talk with one of our campus staff members.

SUBSTANCE BEHAVIOR

As a leader at our church, you set the example for those around you in the area of drug and alcohol use. You will lead people who will have a variety of stories and backgrounds. Being responsible will encourage and affirm them. If you have a history of alcohol or drug abuse, you are not necessarily disqualified from leadership — God can use your past in a positive way to impact the future of those He has placed around you.  Your influence doesn’t end when you're away from church; your actions at church and outside the church will impact your leadership.

THE 4Gs

We've developed a very simple, but effective model for defining what it looks like to participate in what God is doing in our church. It has everything to do with what we want for you rather than what we want from you, and we call it our 4Gs

GROWTH: Actively inviting people to church

GIFTS: Actively use your gift and talents to volunteer

GIVING: Actively giving financially

GROUP: Actively participating in an eGroup
